USPS International Shipping

To create a shipment, launch the USPS Shipment Wizard in Salesforce. Each section in the wizard is detailed below.

Section 1 – Shipment Details

Use the Preference Dropdown menu to select the desired USPS account for the shipment. Note: the Preference will always default to the USPS account used in the last shipment.

Reply Postage

You can create a return shipment by checking the Reply Postage checkbox. Once checked the ship date is no longer required. The sender and recipient addresses also get flipped so the shipment is returned the sender.

Section 2 – Sender Details

The Sender information will be populated automatically from the address defined in the Shipmate Preference.

Check the Residential checkbox if the Ship From address is a residence.

Section 3 – Recipient Details

In this section, define the recipient, or Ship To, information.

If a shipment is created directly from a Lead, Contact, Account or Opportunity, the recipient fields will be pre-loaded with the address and contact details from the related object.

If entering recipient details manually, choose the address source from the dropdown menu and use the lookup field to select the specific record.

Optional: Click Validate Address to check the Ship To address against USPS Address Validation. Please note address validation is only supported for US addresses.

Check the Residential checkbox if the Ship To address is a residence

In this section, define the packaging type for the shipment.

Use the Packaging Type dropdown menu to choose the package type:

  2. For Letter, Flat and Parcel the weight of the package in Pounds and Ounces is required.
  3. For a Large Parcel the weight of the package in Pounds and Ounces as well as the dimensions of the package is required.

Use the Service Type dropdown menu to select the international service type. These values are subject to change as USPS adds/removes service offerings, however should include:

Section 7 – Special Services

Below are the Special Services available for international shipments:

Insured Mail - There are two options - USPS insurance and Endicia's insurance service.

AM Delivery - Delivery in the AM

Delivery Confirmation - Automatically track the packages you're expecting or sending

Adult Signature Restricted Delivery - With Adult Signature Required, the USPS requires an adult aged 21 or older to sign for the package. Adult Signature Restricted requires a specific adult to sign for the package

Electronic Return Receipt - With an Electronic Return Receipt your recipient signs for the mailpiece electronically with their mail carrier and that signature is entered into the USPS computer system. Instead of waiting for a Physical Return Receipt to be mailed to you, access your Electronic Return Receipt by going to the USPS Track and Confirm page to have a copy emailed to you. An Electronic Receipt is also admissible in court. Electronic Return Receipt is less expensive than a Physical Return Receipt and you can check it almost immediately.

Once you click Ship a shipment record will be corrected with a shipping label attached. The shipping label will look similar to this Priority Mail International Parcel Shipment:
