Chatter Setup

Shipmate starring Chatter lets your FedEx shipments join the conversation. Using Chatter, you can follow any shipment and receive real-time tracking updates. To fully take advantage of this great feature, we highly recommend you also configure Scheduled Tracking.

Note: If Chatter was already enabled before you installed the FedEx app, then the setup was done automatically and you can skip the steps below and go straight to Schedule Tracking.

1. Enabling Chatter

  1. Navigate to Setup | Customize | Chatter | Settings.
  2. Click Edit.
  3. Select Enable.
  4. Select Allow Emails so users can choose to receive email notifications about Salesforce Chatter updates (optional).
  5. Click Save.

Note: Enabling Salesforce Chatter also enables the new user interface theme, which updates the look and feel of Salesforce.com.

2. Setting up Feed Tracking

Navigate to Setup | Customize | Chatter | Feed Tracking.

  1. Select FedEx Shipment.
  2. Select Enable Feed Tracking.

Select the following fields:

  1. Actual Delivery Date
  2. Delivered
  3. Last Track Update Time
  4. Shipment Deleted.
  5. Status Description

Click Save.

Once complete, you can continue to Schedule Tracking to configure how often Shipmate will contact FedEx to get the latest tracking updates.
