Purolator Domestic Shipping

Launch the Shipment Wizard

To create a shipment, the Shipment Wizard must be launched first. There are two ways to do this:

  1. Click the Purolator Shipments tab, then click New Purolator Shipment.
  2. Go to any Lead, Contact, Account or Opportunity record, then click New Shipment on the Purolator Shipments related list.

Creating a shipment from a Lead, Contact, Account or Opportunity will preload the recipient’s contact and address fields.


1. Preference and Shipment Type

This section of the wizard will always be hidden from view by default. To make changes, click Show at the right of the section header.

Use the Preference dropdown menu to select the desired Purolator account for the shipment. Note: The Preference will always default to the Purolator account used in the last shipment.

Use the Shipment Type dropdown menu to select the type of shipment: Outgoing or Return. Note: It will always default to an outgoing shipment.

Create a Shipment: this will create an outgoing shipment

Create a Return Shipment: this will create a return shipment

Create an Outbound and Return Shipment: this will create an Outbound and Return shipment

Use the Label Type dropdown menu to choose the label output. Note: It will always default to the Label Type you selected in the related preference.

  1. PDF Regular
  2. PDF Thermal
  3. DPL
  4. ZPL
  5. EPL

2. Sender

This section of the wizard will always be hidden from view by default. To make changes, click Show at the right of the section header.

The Sender information will be populated automatically from the address defined in the Shipmate Preference.

3. Recipient

In this section, define the recipient, or ‘ship to’, information.

If a shipment is created directly from a Lead, Contact, Account or Opportunity, the recipient fields will be pre-loaded with the address and contact details from the related object.

If entering recipient details manually, choose the address source from the dropdown menu and use the lookup field to select the specific record.

Optional: Click Validate Address to check the ‘ship to’ address against Purolator Address Validation


4. Packages

In this section, define the date and packaging details for the shipment.

Define the Ship Date

Use the Service Type dropdown menu to choose the service type

For freight shipments, a booking number is required for air or international freight. For 1-3 day Frieght Shpments you book like normal parcel, then schedule a pickup after.

Use the Packaging Type dropdown menu to choose the package type

Enter the required fields for your package(s)

Use the Add New or Remove buttons to add/remove packages from the package list

5. Billing and Reference Information

This section of the wizard will always be hidden from view by default. To make changes, click Show at the right of the section header.

Use the Bill Transportation To dropdown menu to choose who will be billed for the shipment. Note: this will always default to Sender.

  1. Sender: the shipper’s Purolator account number selected in Section 1
  2. Recipient: the recipient’s Purolator account number
  3. Third Party: a third-party’s Purolator account number
  4. Enter the Reference Values (optional)

Note: If Recipient or Third Party is selected, enter the Account number to be billed.

6. Email and Proactive Notifications

Email Notifications: Depending on the related preference defaults, Notify When Exception Occurs and Occurs Notify When Delivery Occurs will be checked or unchecked. To ensure the Shipper and Recipient receive Purolator notifications, be sure to keep the values checked. You can also enter up to 4 additional email addresses to receive these notifications.


7. Special Services

Select the special service(s) you would like to include for your shipment. The available Purolator special services depend on the origin, destination, package and service type. Shipmate supports the following special services:

  1. Declared Value
  2. Special Handling
  3. Chain Of Signature
  4. OSNR-Signature Not Required
  5. Hold For Pickup
  6. Express Cheque
  7. Dangerous Goods

Note: The shipment special services object within the final shipment record will store all of the data for the various Purolator special services chosen for that shipment.


Click Calculate Rates to get an estimate of the Purolator shipping charges. Click Ship Now to generate the shipment record and label.
