Preferences

In order to create a Preference for Fedex V2 in the Multi-carrier application you need to use the shipping/billing addresses linked to that account, as well as a recent invoice or a PIN.

IMPORTANT: When using the PIN option make sure to identify the contact phone number/email under the FedEx account and to have access to this phone number/email, or ask the person it belongs to assist you.

How to reauthenticate the account

If you start receiving authorization errors or just want to reauthenticate the account you can do that by going to the shipping preference > edit > and reauthenticate the account by reentering the FedEx invoice details or PIN.

FedEx Signature and Letterhead

Electronic Signature and Letterhead are required by FedEx for international shipping and will be applied to the commercial invoice. You need the set this up on the Preference. Go to Shipping Preferences and select your FedEx preference.

Click on the arrow and select FedEx Setup Signature and Letter Head.

Test Account

We provide a FedEx test account in the application, so you can test some functionalities without a live carrier account.

Special Services

These are special services offered by the carrier which can be selected either during the Shipment creation, or can be defaulted in the Custom Address Source. In this section you can find the most commonly used services.

International Shipping

In this section you'll find the required or recommended fields and settings for international shipments.

Mandatory fields for Customs items

  • Description
  • Quantity
  • Quantity Units
  • Weight
  • Unit price
  • Country
  • # of pieces
  • Harmonised Code

Upload Documents

It is possible to upload documents created outside of the Multi-Carrier application. The documents need to be stored on your original object, so for example if you are shipping from an Order object, you need to store the files that you would like to upload on the Order object under the Notes and Attachments or the Files related list. You also need to name the file according to the document type.

Returns

It is possible to create a Custom Address Source specifically for returns. (If you need help setting up a Custom Address Source please use this guide.) In the Custom Address Source the Shipment Type should be set to Return.

QR code returns

QR code returns are currently not available for FedEx V2, we are working with FedEx to have this in our integration..

Email Notifications

FedEx provides notification emails for every tracking step. In the Shipping Preference you can decide when you want your customers or yourself to receive these notification, if at all.

FedEx SmartPost®

SmartPost® is a customized solution offered by the carrier, where FedEx deliver your packages to a USPS facility for final delivery by a postal carrier

FedEx One Rate®

You can ship using FedEx One Rate® with the following Packaging Types for domestic US shipments.

  • FedEx Envelope
  • FedEx Extra Large Box
  • FedEx Large Box
  • FedEx Medium Box
  • FedEx Small Box
  • FedEx Pak
  • FedEx Tube

You can select it under Special Services,

or you can default it in the Custom Address Source.

Hazardous Materials

You can add dangerous goods to your shipment by selecting the special service in the wizard or mapping it in the CAS under the specific carrier fields section.

Once the special service is selected you need to select the dangerous goods type.
Express services have two options: hazardous_materials, limited_quantity
Ground services have three options: hazardous_materials, battery, excepted_quantity

If needed, you can also add the regulation set: adr, dot, iata, ormd

Now it is time to fill in the dangerous goods details. Depending on the service type and dangerous goods type the available fields change. You can view all available fields in the wizard by clicking on the four-way arrow or by searching "dangerous goods" in the searchbox in the Packages section and the specific carrier fields section of the CAS.

You can also specify the HazMat detail if you want to but this is not required. If you want to specify this, then you first need to go to the Dangerous Goods tab.
If you are migrating from the old FedEx API you can continue using your existing Dangerous Goods Details, otherwise you need create a new one.

Fill in as much information as you can on the next page then save your new Detail.

You also need to add the signatory information.
